The Easy Activity for Kids Every Parent Should Know

So you want something fun to entertain the kids, but you don’t have a lot of time to put something together. It’s a problem most parents know all too well. Don’t worry! There is one easy activity for kids that every parent should have in their back pocket. It’s so simple you’ll be able to use it time and time again.

Kids and Energy

If we could harness the energy kids have, we could power the world. They are so ready to be active, but often struggle to find something entertaining.

That’s when they come to you.

Toys are strewn across the floor and a slew of video game cases are splayed open and yet they come to you and say they are bored. With all those things no longer drawing their interest, what hope do parents have?

Of course you can use something like the scavenger hunt ideas for kids we put together or you can create an adventure for them. Sometimes, however, you’re looking for something simpler. Luckily there is one easy activity for kids that will grab their attention. What’s better: you can use it time and time again.

How to Entertain Your Kids

When you want to entertain your kids but you’re out of ideas, try this easy activity for kids: enter a land of make believe. It’s a great way to make any day an adventure.

How? That’s up to you. You can do this many different ways. I’ll give you two examples.

  • The Historian: This one is a bit more hands off, but will require a little of your attention. Tell your kids you are going to play make believe and then ask them to bring you something. You can let them pick something or send them on a mission to get it. When they bring it to you, tell them a made up history about it with a fun story and characters. “This was given to us by the queen when we were saving the world from aliens.” After each item they give, ask them to draw what they imagine.
  • The Guide: If you want to play along with the kids, then use this approach. It’s like the historian, except you lead the kids from object to object.

You can use make believe in many other ways to have kids make up their own stories, to find out what the kids would do if they could do/build/read anything. The great part is that you can use it with no preparation or a lot. You can use it to free up time or include yourself in the fun. There are so many ways to use it, you can dial it in however it best works for you.

This is the easy activity for kids every parent should know. Think of 3 ways you can use it today to not only make your day more manageable, but to also make a wonderful day for your kids.
