If you love to travel but hate the drive, or love to drive but want to make it more exciting, here are some great road trip ideas to make your next drive an adventure.
Have a Great Conversation
Taking a drive can both be relaxing and boring. Getting out on the open road can be a great break from the day-to-day, but it can also be long and monotonous.
It doesn’t have to be. You can make your next drive an adventure just by trying some road trip ideas like this one: try some conversation starters.
It’s easy to do. Just go online, look for conversation starters, and enjoy the lost art of listening. Ask questions around the car and find out more about the people you’re driving with.
If you’re driving by yourself, simply call a friend or family member, have them look up the questions and enjoy a trip that’s a lot more fun. You’ll be amazed at how interesting the people closest to you really are.
You can have a lot of fun learning more about each other, or you can try playing a game.
Play a Game
One of the best road trip ideas you can try is playing a game. Sure we’re not talking about a video game like Heroes of the Storm, but there are a lot of fun ways to take something that seems boring and make it a game.
For instance, there’s the alphabet game. You simply use road signs to try to find all the letters of the alphabet, starting with “a” and going to “z”. To make it a little more challenging, allow only one letter per sign.
You can also try I Spy. If these don’t work for you, there are a ton of other options you can find online, like these road trip games.
There are other road trip ideas too, and they work whether you are driving alone or are with a car full of people.
Learn, Listen, and Laugh
When I was a kid my parents did something special for long road trips, and it’s still one of my favorite road trip ideas to this day. They would bring along recordings of old radio shows – back before TV.
There were comedies, thrillers, and more, and the best part is that they were recorded specifically for people who couldn’t watch. The adventure was all in your mind.
Today, you can still get those old radio shows as a free download, but there are other options as well. You can get audiobooks from places like Audible. This includes fiction, comedies, non-fiction, courses, and more.
Find the recordings that works best for you and your drive, and make the most of it.
There are a ton of great road trip ideas to be had and this just scratches the surface. Still you can make a drive exciting by learning more about the people around you with a great conversation, playing road games, or listening to recordings where you can learn, listen and laugh. You can make your next drive an adventure and find where your adventure will take you.
