Make Your Halloween a Little More Spooky

Sometimes you don’t have the luxury of going out to enjoy trick or treating. You can still make the holiday fun for the kids. Here’s how to make your Halloween a little more spooky, and a lot more fun.

A Socially Distanced Haunting

While the ghosts are keeping their distance and the zombies are unsure how to attach masks when they don’t have ears, Halloween seems to become a little less frightening and a little less fun.

It doesn’t have to be that way. You can make your halloween a little more spooky and a lot more fun by using these simple tricks. Just follow my lead and in no time you’ll be goblin up my ghoulish treats of knowledge that will spirit you away…

Okay, I got a little carried away.  Anyway, here’s some great ideas to make this Halloween a lot more fun.

Decorate Your Inner Sanctum

You know where you aren’t social distanced? Your home! Why not make your home a super spooky (or at least seasonally fun) Halloween location?

Go to the store and pick up some spider webbing and string in in the corners. Add some spider rings not only as decoration, but as little prizes. Go to a craft store and get an old witch’s broom and hat. Pick up a few decorations like some fall leaves, jack-o-lanterns and more.

Not only can you make your halloween a little more spooky, you can make it last a lot longer!

Trick or Treat Week

In fact, you can make the whole week trick or treat week in your house. Leading up to Halloween, you can play a game of trick or treat when the kids do chores, or do something very thoughtful or kind.

Give them a sweet treat or, if they want, play a trick on them. The “trick” should actually be a lot of fun. “I’m going to count to 10, then I will turn you into a bat. You’d better run!” Turn the moment into a fun little game. You will make your halloween a little more spooky, but you will also make your memories a lot more memorable.

Daily Dress Up

Why not take the trick or treat week up a notch? Make each day a new day to dress up. This isn’t a full costume dress up, although it can be, but a fun way to play a game together.

Your kids could put on dad’s glasses and say “I’m daddy” or they could carry around a basketball and be a WNBA star. It’s a fun way to make your halloween a little more spooky and make the fun last.

You may be stuck inside this Halloween, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be the best one yet. Just use your imagination, add a few frills and fun ideas, and make your halloween a little more spooky, and the fun and games memories you will cherish for years to come.
