Planning an event can be a challenge. Making it memorable can seem overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In just a few short minutes I will show you three steps to creating an amazing event theme that will make your next event the talk of the town.
From Ho Hum to Hello!
We’ve all been to forgettable events – at least, I think we have. It’s kind of hard to remember really. It’s the same event at a different place with the same decorations with a different picture and the same activities at a different location. It’s hard to remember something that blends into every other event.
So when it’s time to come up with an event, we want something that stands out. We don’t just want it to be another get-together stamped out on the cookie cutter assembly line of bad parties. We want to be memorable and unforgettable.
One of the best ways to do that is with a little psychological trick and you can do it by creating an amazing event theme in three simple steps.
Wired for Connection
Our brains are wired to try to figure out how everything fits together. I don’t want to get into all the psychological mumbo jumbo, so quite simply when things seem out of place or random it’s unsettling. When everything fits together perfectly, it’s like candy for our brains.
We are wired to not only like things that all seem to work together, it makes our brains happy and lights up the parts of our brains that makes things enjoyable and therefore memorable. That’s why creating an amazing event theme can make your next group activity one for the history books.
And all it takes is three simple things.
Creating an Amazing Event Theme
To make a memorable event, simply come up with a theme that you can use throughout. Here are three ways you can turn it from a forgettable get-together to an amazing experience:
- Get Specific: So you want to have a Star Wars themed party? Make it more specific. Maybe it’s the Star Wars Cantina. Or maybe it’s inside the Millennium Falcon. Going from a general theme to a more specific theme can make a huge difference in how immersive and memorable your event is.
- Remember the Little Things: We like to think it’s the big things people remember, but often it’s the little additions that make the difference. If you do the Star Wars cantina, make drinks that seem made for the venue. If you do the Millennium Falcon, why not have a game table like the one in the movie ?
- Get Everyone Involved: Don’t just decorate in a particular theme, but have everyone join in too. Not only can they come dressed up as someone connected with the theme, they can bring snacks that match as well.
For your next party you can be creating an amazing event theme simply by getting specific, remembering the little things and getting everyone involved. It’s a great way to turn an ordinary event into one that’s unforgettable.
